Our Big Fat Vintage Wedding

I'm back from our big vintage wedding adventure! The wedding day was absolutely rad and, though maybe not exactly perfect, it was definitely us! The week before we had a blast scouring vintage and thrift stores and raiding the attic to find extra goodies to incorporate. Savers is, like, my new favorite place. I wish we had these on the west coast! There were aisles of milk glass!

We had over a hundred old apothecary jars. My parents' house was built in 1790. Sometimes they dig up old jars and bottles so lord knows how old some these are!

A vintage sewing table served as our guest book table.

An {real} old bread box was used for cards and guests signed our SUPER RAD guest book made by Feather Love!

We knew that our friends would dig the tattoo parlor. Who knew that our aunts and uncles would get in on the action too! It was a big hit. We grabbed an antique side table and I found the runner in the attic. A vintage tiered stand held pirate and heart and peace sign tattoos.

My mother is a trooper! She collected 120 vintage dessert plates over the year! Washing them all by hand the next day was worth it.

what dudes should wear to weddings

This past year I have been blown away by all the mad style I've seen from guests at the weddings I have shot. And I'm not just talking about the ladies... The guys have been taking it to the limit!

There have been tons of vintage suits, designer suits, and my new absolute favorite: Ben Sherman....

My husband owns a Ben Sherman suit; below is a photo taken of him and I (in his Sherman) at Emilia & Bill's wedding. (Yes, Emilia my co-blogger on this site!). Photo by the amazing duo at Davina & Daniel Photography.

Below, Douglas Smith (HBO's Big Love) taken at Jenny & Luc's wedding. See the rest of their wedding photos on my blog here).

Below: Kestrin & Jonathan (I shot their wedding in April). They were also guests at Jenny & Luc's wedding. Jonathan's style is perfect.

I love everything about this guy's look!See the rest of Jenny & Luc's wedding here.

Below are some guests from Christopher & CC's wedding. Both the bride & groom work as designers for Hurley so it was no surprise that their guests were fashion-minded & extremely well-dressed. Dude below has epic taste!

Gentlemen, now THIS is what to wear to a wedding. Just look at this handsome crew!

These last two fellows above: head to toe PERFECTION!

Below are just a few of my favorites from Kestrin & Jonathan's wedding... there were so many!
This man is certainly one of the best dressed people in the world.
Even the little people & the fuzzy creatures were stylish.
Below is the groom's father- RAD!

Each one of these ensembles would make a perfect groom's suit. To hell with stuffy tuxedos! (unless of course, they're old-timey).

table cameras RULE!

Why has everyone been dissing on table cameras lateley? I say we bring them back! The shots that came out of the disposable table cameras at my wedding are absolutely my favorite. They look all old-timey and bright and colorful. Kids took photos from weird angles of weird things. The photos are funny & sweet & hazy; they have tons of character. I absolutely adore the art that flowed out of these little rinky-dink cheapo cameras. I'm not by any means saying they should replace your wedding photographer, but they ARE an awesome addition! Here are some of my favorites from my wedding back in June 2006... xo noa (feather love photography)
