Incorporating vintage pieces into your wedding doesn't mean spending every free second at the Goodwill or scouring eBay. My plan when I get home a couple weeks before the wedding is to sift through the piles and piles of crap {hem hem} vintage pieces and antiques in my parents' attic. The house I grew up in, and the venue for our wedding, was built in 1790 and my mother is an avid antique collector. Granted there probably will be some things that are just too special to take out of doors but why rent tables and chairs for the cake, booze or guest table when your parents or grandparents or neighbors might have a perfectly good set you can borrow. I have a vision of rugs laid on the lawn for lounging so instead of purchasing some, which could become very, very expensive, I'll just take a couple from the inside out. This works well for dishes, cake stands, frames, vases, etc.
Along with Erin Ever After and flutter glass Photography, I created a bohemian al fresco photo shoot using mostly pieces that we found in our own homes and Erin's parents' house (they have an AMAZING collection). We used my antique kitchen table, vintage gold plates I have been collecting and vintage mercury glass from Erin's wedding. Though it was quite eclectic, it all came together beautifully and we did everything for under $400!
So take a look in your attic and start grouping objects that you like. You might just be surprised at what you can put together!
